Implosions!

A laptop in a dark room, its screen filled with Matrix-style cascading code.

Suffered a big setback: just when I’d gotten the site pretty much how I wanted it, I tried to refine a few kinks and the stylesheet rapidly deteriorated. Or the HTML did. Something went irredeemable and everything had to be destroyed.

I don’t really have a reliable system for backing up my Neocities work with Visual Studio, and vice versa. Visual Studio is great for producing clean, correct code, but when I’m working in Neocities I tend to create in Neocities. Progress in one area can outstrip the other, and then I lose track of what’s actually the backup.

And then I lost everything I’d written in Catechism and Archetypes. It was a lot of material. It’s not a bad exercise to re-create it, but it’s very discouraging to have created all that writing only to see it apparently vanish.

Wait a minute…

Ah, no — they were in the Recycle Bin. I’m golden. I just have to paste them into the new template and I can go back to my to-do list.

This is good news to me.
